Applications of BBa_K1986001

Fenotype of expresion.

Once transformed the phenotype is one of over production of lipidid especially those in range of 14C to 18C ( c stands for carbons long) The top expected is 70% of total biomass and a slow of growth rate. The lipids expresed are the following.

Miristic acid ( 14:1) Palmitic acid ( 16:1) Esteric acid (18:0) Lineeic acid (18:3) linoleic acid (18:2) oleic acid ( 18:1)

the proportions of this lipids may vary depending on the metabolism but in general the most common (40%) is Palmitic acid.

This biobrick is designed to work on C.vulgaris but it could be expected to work on the following organisms: C.reinhardii and S.obliqus, as well as thoose phylogenetically related. It was transformed using electroporation, and sucessfully checked by using pcr and an electropforesis gel
